How Daily Fantasy Sports Picks Work on Wagr
Wagr's daily fantasy sports picks start with player stat projections. You decide whether each player will finish above or below the displayed line, combine those decisions into an entry, and follow the underlying games until the results are graded.
Choose More or Less on a projection
The current slate lists players, stat categories, and a projected line. Choose More when you expect the player's final result to finish above that line, or Less when you expect it to finish below.
Only sports and projections shown in the live Picks lobby are available. Lines can change or lock before an underlying game begins, so review the final entry before submitting.
Build an eligible entry
House-card formats use two to five picks and require picks from at least two different teams. Outside NFL, MLB, and WNBA a house card takes one pick per team, and both sides of the same game are allowed. In NFL, MLB, and WNBA picks can be stacked on one team: the multiplier is reduced for linked picks, and a lineup that is too tightly linked is refused. Only the exact same pick twice is always refused. Head-to-head and tournament formats use two to five picks.
The entry screen validates the current rules before submission. It also shows the selected currency, entry amount, and potential award information that applies to that exact entry.
Compare the available formats
Perfect Picks requires every active pick to hit. Flex Play uses three to five picks and can award an entry when one pick misses, based on the displayed hit tier. Top Score assigns points to picks and ranks the completed card by its score.
In 1v1, your two-to-five-pick lineup is compared with one opponent's lineup. A hit scores its locked-in multiplier multiplied by 100, while a miss, a void, and a tied projection score nothing, and the higher total wins. Level totals refund both entries. Tournament entries are ranked in a field of the same league, and tied placements split their combined payouts evenly. Top Score is winner-take-all against the lobby: a tied top score refunds every tied entry, and a lobby that does not reach its minimum player count still runs and refunds every entry. Not every format or entry amount is available on every slate.
Locks, voids, and grading
A projection locks before play begins and can no longer be added to a new entry. Picks are graded from the data provider's final stat. Stats include overtime in every sport. In the NHL, shootout goals and shootout attempts do not count toward any player stat, so they never add a goal or a shot on goal. A pick on one period counts only that period. A pick is voided as a did-not-play only when the player never entered the game. A player who entered and recorded 0 is graded on that 0, and a player who was injured during the game is graded on what they recorded. A pick is also voided when no final score is available within the grading window, and when a game is not finalized within 24 hours of its scheduled start.
A did-not-play result, cancellation, or void drops that pick out of a house card, and the card is repriced on the picks that remain, rebuilt from each remaining pick's own locked multiplier, so one pick fewer means the next-lower pick tier. A three-pick Flex Play entry left with two picks plays on as a two-pick Perfect card. When fewer than two picks remain, the entry is refunded in full, and that refund is paid as soon as it is certain rather than after the remaining games finish. A tied projection — a final stat that matches the projection exactly — counts as neither a correct nor an incorrect pick and lowers the potential award without making the lineup ineligible. The completed entry is the source of truth for its final result.
A tied projection is dropped and the entry is repriced on the picks that were scored, rebuilt from each remaining pick's own locked multiplier. Flex Play needs at least three scored picks to price as Flex: when ties leave two scored picks, the entry settles as a two-pick Perfect card on those picks, which awards only when both hit and otherwise does not award. When ties leave one scored pick, a hit awards the one-pick price for that pick's multiplier and never less than the entry amount, and a miss does not award. For example, a two-pick Perfect card with one hit and one tie awards the one-pick price, a three-pick Flex entry with one miss and two ties does not award, and a three-pick Flex entry with two hits and one tie settles as a two-pick card. Minimum-pick and same-team eligibility are affected by did-not-play results and voids, not by ties.
Canceling and collecting
Only an unmatched 1v1 entry can be canceled, within 2 minutes of submitting and before any of its games lock. That 2-minute window binds the sender only: a challenged player can decline until the first game starts, and declining refunds the sender. House-card, Top Score, and tournament entries are final once submitted. A tournament entry is refunded only if the tournament is voided or never reaches its minimum field.
An unmatched 1v1 entry stops being offered to other players 2 minutes before its first game and is refunded when that game starts. A 1v1 settles once every game in both lineups is final. A house card settles on its own, without waiting for the rest of the contest, once every pick on it is final. During a game a pick shows as hit or missed as soon as its stat decides it, but the card awards only when all its games are final. Awards and refunds are claimed from the entry, and a completed entry that did not award is kept in the entry history for review.
Stars, cash, and eligibility
Every format takes Stars. A Stars entry pays Stars, except the 50-star, 100-star, and 200-star 1v1 tiers, which pay real cash of 25 cents, 50 cents, and 1 dollar. A refund returns to the buckets it came from, so Promo Cash returns as Promo Cash, and a win always lands as real cash.
Cash eligibility depends on age, account status, identity checks, and verified location, and location is checked on every submit. Cash and Stars availability can differ by state. Responsible Gaming limits, timeouts, and self-exclusion apply to Picks exactly as they do to games. Displayed projections are contest inputs, not Wagr predictions or betting advice.
FAQ
Which sports can I pick on Wagr?
+
The live Picks lobby shows the currently supported sports and available projections. Wagr does not offer a sport or player merely because it appears in an older entry.
Can I play Wagr picks without a cash entry?
+
Yes. Every Picks format takes Stars, and a Stars entry pays Stars except on the 50-star, 100-star, and 200-star 1v1 tiers, which pay real cash. Cash formats and amounts depend on account and location eligibility.
Does Wagr publish expert picks or predictions?
+
No. The displayed lines are inputs for Wagr contests, not editorial predictions or betting advice. You make each More or Less decision.
